AltWheels Festival
AltWheels will host its 4th annual alternative transportation festival September 22-25, 2006. The festival will be on Boston City Hall Plaza on Friday and Saturday, September 22-23 and at Lars Anderson Transportation Museum Sunday September 24-25. This festival will showcase on-going efforts from the region and the nation to reduce energy consumption, promote all forms of sustainable transportation, introduce alternative fuel and hybrid-electric vehicles into the marketplace, and improve air quality and public health. This event is free and open to the public on Friday, Saturday. Monday will be a conference for fleet managers interested in looking at alternative transportation options.
AltWheels is an opportunity to learn, purchase, explore and celebrate all of today’s sustainable transportation options. GM, Honda, Ford, Toyota, Zipcar, KeySpan, Clean Energy and others will display the latest in commercially available and future hybrid-electric, hydrogen fuel cell, CNG, biodiesel, ethanol, and flexible-fuel vehicles. University students, environmental organizations, government agencies, advocacy groups, entrepreneurs, and local museums will bring environmental exhibits, activities and demonstrations on used vegetable oil, solar energy, and even steam as fuel. All ages are welcome, and there will be special activities for kids. For more information, please visit: www.altwheels.org
